Greetings Team Members!

We are excited to inform you that Putting Edge will be partnering together with the Dr. Jay Charitable Foundation. This Foundation provides pediatric palliative care, funding and support to families with children that are facing terminal illnesses across North America.

Palliative care (treatment given to patients at end of life) is a mature science when it comes to caring for adults. Unfortunately most hospitals are not set up to facilitate pediatric palliative care or provide counseling programs to help children understand and cope with terminal illness. We have decided to work together with the Dr. Jay Charitable Foundation to teach families and children to better understand grief, dying and the healing process. Their objective is to “add life to the child’s time, not just time to the child’s life.”

The Dr. Jay Charitable Foundation began in 1996 with a focus on building children’s free, supervised, playcare facilities in major cancer hospitals. Over the past 12 years, the charity has raised over $2 Million and become even more focused on the unique needs of terminally ill children and their families, both clinically and educationally. Their Canadian programs have gained such acclaim that they have attracted the attention of the U.S. based EPEC (Education in Palliative and End of Life Care) program at Northwestern University in Chicago. EPEC’s mission is to educate all healthcare professionals across North America on the essential clinical competencies in palliative care, having reached over 1,000,000 caregivers over the past 7 years. EPEC’s next step is to design a program specifically for pediatric needs. That’s where we come in! The Putting Edge, together with EPEC and the Dr. Jay Charitable Foundation, will help design a new program targeting pediatric palliative educational programs in our local communities. A partnership with the Dr. Jay Charitable Foundation is a perfect opportunity to build community relationships as families with children are the largest portion of our guests that we serve today. “For the love of kids”, we must work together and help raise funding that will provide programs to support these families and children in their hour of need
