The
Toronto Argonauts followed up their 2004 Grey Cup Championship
with another impressive year. In 2005, the boys in blue improved
upon their record finishing 11-7-0 and finished first in the
East Division for the first time since 1997. The Boatmen also
drew 13-year high attendance numbers and boasted the first
CFL Most Outstanding Player in Toronto in 8 seasons when QB
Damon Allen captured the award.
The Argos have been showered in optimism as of late, the
more intimate confines of Rogers Centre have attracted the
attention of fans and executives across the CFL and the overall
game-day experience has been touted to be among the best in
the League. The season ticket base is growing and it appears
that the offence featuring Robert Baker, Tony Miles and Arland
Bruce III will be among the most productive receiving corps
around for years to come. Kevin Eiben and Michael Fletcher
anchor a defence that has been among the best for the past
3 seasons and most expect them to improve in the upcoming
2006 campaign.
With the announcement of Grey Cup 2007 coming to Toronto,
the excitement is thick for a return to the top of the East
in 2006. As the coaching staff builds toward another championship
in Winnipeg next season they will certainly have their sights
set on a home date in '07.
